£39,000 – £41,600 + Overtime (Negotiable depending on skills and experience)

Company Overview – Pump Technician

Our client, a leader in their sector, are currently looking for a Pump and Monitoring Equipment Service Technician to join their highly valued team on a full-time basis.

This Company are continuing to grow at an impressive rate due to their excellent reputation and trusted expertise in their field.

Some of the services offered by this company include Ground sourcing, Pumps, Water Treatment, well Drilling and Probing. Previous experience within all of these areas is preferred although not essential.

You will be part of a team who all understand the importance of working together to ensure a high standard of work is delivered. You will be given support, training and the correct tools to carry out your role efficiently and effectively.

Pump Technician Role and Responsibilities:

Ensure the pump service and electrical preparation workshop areas are kept clean, tidy, and well-organised at all times
Respond promptly to requests from colleagues for equipment procurement and preparation
Ensure all tasks and processes are carried out in strict adherence to Health and Safety guidelines
Ensure all plant, equipment, and materials leaving the yard are clean, well-presented, in good working order, and meet the required specifications
Assist with the unloading and dispatching of equipment to and from sites
Prepare and test 3-phase electric pumps (typically 1 – 37kW), ensuring all equipment meets required standards
Connect pump cables using heat shrink and/or resin joints to ensure secure and safe connections.
Perform calibration and commissioning tests on all pumping equipment to confirm functionality
Regularly update the inventory control database to track the availability and location of electrical pumping equipment
Assemble and prepare datalogger units, including the ordering and assembly of components to meet project specifications
Test the functionality of dataloggers in the yard environment to ensure reliability
Test electronic alarm units and prepare connection leads as required for site deployment
Perform calibration tests on selected monitoring equipment to ensure proper operation
Test and check the functionality of various instruments and sensors, including vibrating wire transducers, 4-20 mA sensors, and electromagnetic flowmeters
Order appropriate signal cables for site installations as required
Build pressure/vacuum switch alarm units for site use

Pump Technician Skills and Experience:

Full UK driving licence (or equivalent)
Proactive and driven with a strong enthusiasm for seizing opportunities
At least 2 years of experience within the sector, ideally in a similar technical role
Relevant qualifications: A solid mechanical and electrical engineering background is desirable. BS7671:2008 & 17th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification would be a strong advantage
Understanding of electrical and mechanical safety: Awareness of associated hazards and safe working practices
Experience in pump servicing: Proven hands-on experience with pump installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting
Knowledge of basic electronics, instrumentation, and telemetry: A good understanding of these areas would be highly beneficial
